Billing Information

The River Road Rescue Squad outsources its billing for services rendered to Ambulance Billing Company.  If you have received a bill, please click the button below to make a payment through their portal.  

If you have a question regarding your bill, you may contact Ambulance Billing Company directly by calling our hotline at (732) 885-5565 and selecting option 3.

Scope

This policy shall apply to all fees charged for patient care services rendered by River Road Rescue Squad owned assets and employees to ensure all persons served may request care in their time of need without barrier caused by financial impact.  

Statement

It is the policy of the River Road Rescue Squad to offer Charity Care to all transported patients that have qualified for such at the hospital which received them.  All patients not transported or which have been transported but do not qualify for Charity Care may request Compassionate Care regardless of insurance status.

Definitions

Charity Care: The forgiving of all incurred fees and debts in accordance to the standards set by the appropriate governing body such as but not limited to the New Jersey Department of Health for licensed hospitals.

Compassionate Care: The amending of all incurred fees and debts to that of the Medicare allowable fees set by CMS at the time of service along with the possible forgiving of debits in line with agency standards.

Policy

River Road Rescue Squad, a federally recognized non-profit 501(c)(3) believes that requesting an ambulance should not mean having to worry about a bill or worse.  All of our providers drive to continue to push the boundaries and provide industry-leading care while strictly adhering to soft billing practices; charity care being one of the components that pair with soft billing. 

Charity care is free or discounted medically necessary healthcare that many hospitals offer to people who cannot afford to pay for treatment otherwise. It includes inpatient and outpatient services. Even if you have health insurance, you may qualify for charity care to pay the amount of your hospital bill that your insurance doesn’t cover.  Under the Affordable Care Act, non-profit hospitals must offer charity care to maintain their nonprofit status with the IRS. However each hospital handles the process in its own way as some may provide you more assistance. While we are not a hospital, we have chosen to match this standard for our ambulance operations.  Charity Care is intended to be used after payments from other sources, such as health insurance, have been applied. 

Charity Care shall be automatically extended to patient's served by River Road Rescue Squad assets and providers if the patient has already qualified for charity care at the receiving hospital or upon request.

The River Road Rescue Squad shall extend Compassionate Care on verbal request to any patient that receives care but is either not transported to a hospital or does not qualify for Charity Care at the hospital to which they were transported and states difficulty in making payment.  Compassionate Care shall initially be provided in the form of amending all incurred fees and debts to that match that of the Medicare CMS fee schedule as listed at the time of service.  In the instance that a patient is unable to afford the amended fees, they may submit an agency provided notarized affidavit in which they attest to being unable to make payment on any incureed all fees and debts and request that they be forgiven.
